2023 Mỹ Việt Story Slam Featured Storyteller: Cindy Truong Winner of "People's Choice Award" Cindy Truong is student at New York University studying English and Creative Writing. Her parents immigrated to Connecticut in the late 1990s where she was born and raised. Cindy finds inspiration in her parent's stories and her Vietnamese-American experience and aspires to become a published author.

2023 Mỹ Việt Story Slam Featured Storyteller: Nicole Ngo Nicole Ngo is a young writer and artist currently living between Tokyo, Japan and Sydney, Australia. A first generation Vietnamese Australian, she hopes to shine light on the nuances of human experience. Her work has been featured in publications and exhibited in galleries internationally.

2023 Mỹ Việt Story Slam Featured Storyteller: Geoff "G" Vu Geoff "G" Vu is a travel storyteller from the West Coast. After spending over a decade as a teacher and principal in Oakland, Ca, he decided to pursue his dream of traveling the world and capturing stories about identity, community, art, and service. A learner first, his passion for media is all about story-driven content, particularly from the mouths of people of color and other historically disenfranchised groups.

2023 Mỹ Việt Story Slam Featured Storyteller: Kim Thai Kim Thai (she/her) is a writer, Emmy-award winning producer, social justice advocate, and mindfulness teacher. Her personal essays on identity and healing have been published in New York Magazine’s The Cut, Newsweek, Buzzfeed, SELF, and Tricycle. She has appeared on MTV News, Dear White Women podcast, and Authority Magazine; reported for FORTUNE, USA Today, and the Associated Press among others. As a queer Asian woman and proud kid of Vietnamese refugees, her personal mission is to empower people with liberatory practices to live with ease and joy.

2023 Mỹ Việt Story Slam Featured Storyteller: Vanessa “Nessa” Nguyễn Vanessa “Nessa” Nguyễn is a Vietnamese-American illustrator & designer born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Nessa’s work focuses on their Vietnamese upbringing and how we can bond cross-culturally over food, cheeky designs, intergenerational healing, and self-awareness. By staying true to their personal journey growing up in an first-generation immigrant household, Nessa’s relatable storytelling inspires us to be real with ourselves and each other with themes of diaspora, playfulness, and vulnerability. In their spare time, they can be found scouring Chinatown for the tastiest dumpling deals.
